These figures have developed from earlier paintings which took the form of shadows on rocks and alluded to the permanent marks we leave on the earth. The cracks were inspired by the cracked earth Tessa saw at the Tankwa Karoo National Park. The cracks simultaneously refer to destruction through global warming and to potential change and growth. The figures celebrate rejuvenation of the earth after change has come about.
